Privacy Policy

Frontier Digital LLC · Last updated: March 23, 2026

1. Overview

Trayce is a local-first desktop application developed by Frontier Digital LLC, a company based in Ohio. Trayce builds a personal knowledge graph from the files and data on your device. It reads the folders you designate, extracts entities such as people, places, and concepts using artificial intelligence that runs locally on your computer, and organizes that information into a searchable graph.

All processing occurs on your device. Your files, your knowledge graph, and your search queries do not leave your computer unless you explicitly authorize it.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Frontier Digital does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically, we do not collect:

  • Telemetry or usage analytics
  • Crash reports or diagnostic data
  • Device identifiers or fingerprints
  • Search queries or search results
  • The contents of your files or knowledge graph
  • Account information of any kind

We have no means of identifying who you are, what you search for, or what information is contained in your knowledge graph.

3. Data Stored Locally

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to Frontier Digital or any third party:

Your filesRead and processed on your device. Never uploaded or transmitted.
Your knowledge graphStored in a local database on your device.
Search queries and resultsProcessed locally. Not visible to Frontier Digital.
Conversation importsProcessed entirely on your device.
Application settingsStored locally on your device.

4. Local AI Processing

Trayce integrates Ollama to run artificial intelligence models directly on your device. All file reading, entity extraction, and knowledge graph construction occur on your hardware. The contents of your files are never transmitted to a cloud-based AI service by Trayce.

Local AI extraction may be enabled or disabled at any time from within the application's Settings.

5. Network Requests

Trayce makes the following outbound network requests. None of these requests include personal data:

Model downloads

Upon initial setup, Trayce downloads AI models required for local processing. These include one model from the Ollama registry and one embedding model (approximately 23 MB) from Hugging Face. No personal data is transmitted during this process. Models are cached locally and are not re-downloaded on subsequent launches.

Update checks

Trayce periodically checks for software updates via GitHub Releases. This is a standard HTTP request containing no personal data. You retain full control over when updates are installed.

AI application integration

If you choose to connect Trayce to a third-party AI application, certain data from your knowledge graph may be shared. This process is described in detail in Section 6 below.

6. Third-Party AI Application Integration

Trayce may optionally be connected to AI applications installed on your device, such as Claude Desktop, allowing those applications to query your local knowledge graph. This integration is entirely optional. It is the only mechanism by which data from your device may be shared with a third party.

How data sharing works

  1. Authorization required. Trayce does not initiate connections to external applications. All integrations must be configured by you.
  2. Request received locally. When a connected AI application requests data, Trayce receives and processes that request on your device.
  3. Explicit approval required. Before any data is shared, Trayce displays a prompt identifying every entity and file the requesting application seeks to access. You may approve, deselect specific items, or decline entirely.
  4. Data transferred to the AI application. Upon your approval, the selected data is passed to the AI application on your device. Frontier Digital does not control how that application handles the data thereafter.

Available controls

  • Configure specific request types to be automatically approved without a prompt.
  • Permanently block individual files from being shared under any circumstances.
  • Disable the approval system entirely (not recommended).

7. Your Rights and Controls

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you retain full control at all times.

AccessYour complete knowledge graph is browsable within the application.
DeletionYou may delete individual entities, specific files, or your entire knowledge graph at any time from within the application.
RevocationYou may disconnect AI applications, block specific files from sharing, or disable the MCP server at any time.

For users subject to the GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or similar applicable law: Frontier Digital LLC does not hold personal data on its servers. As we have never received your personal data, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete. The sole exception is the AI application integration described in Section 6, which requires your explicit prior authorization.
